Remembering Marathon Legend Johnny Kelley

Johnny Kelley was a remarkable runner who was a 2-time winner of the Boston Marathon (1935 and 1945). He ran Boston 61 times, finishing 2nd seven times and 18 times he was in the top 10. Amazing!

There is a statue of Kelley and Tarzan Brown on Heartbreak Hill. "He was the Boston Marathon," -four-time winner Bill Rodgers

(I took this photo of Kelley in 1992 in his final marathon at 84 years of age). He died in 2004 at 97.
