Lukas Verzbicas, a freshmen from Lincoln Way Central HS in Illinois, won the Midwest Gala two mile last weekend in 8:53.98! Even more amazing- this was his first track race of the outdoor season! (this will be Verzbicas' first outdoor track race of the season, after focusing this spring on triathlons. Verzbicas' triathlon accomplishments were quite high, as the 16 year-old earned a spot on the U.S. National Team, which competes at the World Championships in September in Australia)

Sidenote- In 2nd place was Footlocker XC champ Halie Solomone who finished up in 8:56.
